With his pater watching from the stands, Phil 'Swampy' Richman fluffed his lines today and spurned two gilt edged chances to seal the game for Business!!
Playing up the hill and against a howling gale Das Economists took the game to the Nancy Boys of Rhein and dominated from the off. In goal Joe Hart Ellison had little to do until he tipped a long range shot superbly over the bar. In defence Naylor jnr and Big Dave Murphy repelled everything that was thrown at them. Ashley and Doherty dictated the game in midfield and two great chances were carved out for the normally clinical Swampy Richman. But with the pressure of papa watching his progeny from the terraces it all got too much for Rich and he drew a blank. Fortunately Carlisles favourite son Kev 'Kevey' Roberts shooting was as accurate as Jeremy Bambers at White House Farm. A pass inside the box from Richman saw Roberts flick the ball up for himself to volley home a golden bullet!! A fully deserved lead for the Business School. But then against the run of play Rheins asylum seekers got back into the game after Ben 'Pegging' Peach had his pocket picked. Rheins non binary centre forward seized the chance and hit an unstoppable shot from outside the box. HALF TIME: BUSINESS SCHOOL 1.RHEIN 1!!
In the 2nd half Ellison launched sputniks into space for Swampy to feed on but it wasn't to be his day. Eastenders thinking women's crumpet Max Branning also got in on the act missing his own simple chance to take the lead. Doherty and Dinn were sniffing blood and targeted Rheins collection of whinging mummy's boys for a bit of schoolyard bundling!! Yellow cards followed as the Business School grew frustrated at not turning possession into a win! With 20 minutes to go Harper came on at left back and put in an excellent cameo to tame Rheins whippet right wing.
But the clock ran down before a winner could be found.
