With star striker George Soper going through a worse drought than the hosepipe ban of 1976 it was left to club mascot Simon Claggy Naylor to cap a Man of the Match performance by scoring a Geoff Hurst worldie in off the top of the bar! The ever modest Clag then nonchalanty walked away without celebration or ado like it was just another day at the office!
The game started with Ellison launching the Satan 1 rocket but Liobians big bruisers in defence just soaked it up leaving Georgie Soper looking like a Romanian Street dog feeding on scraps. The Business Schools passing game was out of sorts and Bob Marleys lovechild gave The Economists defence a torrid time. Things weren't helped with Arsene Hedges continued determination to play 3 at the back and lead his lambs to the slaughter. In the first half Las Economistas created little apart from a Naylor shot that went just wide. Arron Maldini Hodder and Captain Jake were two of the only positives with a dogged display from both Rossineri stalwarts. But Liobians pressure told with an opening goal that had been coming.
HALF TIME: LEZZAS 1 BSFC 0!!!
After just 27 seconds of the restart Soper fed Naylor Snr who curled an unforgettable shot over Jamie Strawbridges nappa to bring the game level. Jimmy 'The Vision' Liobians and Arsene Hedges then both came on for their respective teams to turn the game into a Legends exhibition match. Jimmy hit the pass of the game before Hedges took him out to prevent him from running the game. Naylor Jnr won his personal battle with Ziggy Marley and Ellison saved twice at point range to keep the Lesbians at bay! But then Liobians brought on Jack Grealish and that just wasn't cricket! Tommy Pardon had had a commanding performance up to then but struggled with Peaky Jack's jiggery pokery! 2 goals followed before Hedges was left greeting like a wee bairn being force fed his greens as his favourite 60 pund ball was spiked on the fence!!
