15 years ago a scientific experiment gone wrong, gave rise to a species of semi intelligent apes known as Collegiate. They wiped out most of humanity with a virus that became known as Simian Flu! Only a group of fearless economists could topple Albino Alfie and his Anthropoid Army. And so raged THE WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES!!!
The pleasure of rooting for Goliath is that you expect to win. The pleasure of rooting for David is that you have a chance to be inspired! And so the biggest crowd in Business School history turned up today to witness the possible giant killing of Collegiate by their human counterparts . On the terraces, diehard fan Colin 'Perry Como' Richman rubbed shoulders with legends from Business Schools past. 'Bite ya legs' Walters, Michael TRON Mcgrath, Seasick Steve Mitchell and Fat boy slim Huther all turned up to cheer the boys on!
And they were justly rewarded when after just 5 minutes Babydriver Joe Birkett hit the roof of the net with a sweetly struck free kick!! After 15 minutes a Doyle overhead kick nearly made it 2 when Roberts failed to convert. But Timms pulled up short and had to be replaced by the ever able Paul Murray. Then the primates equalised after a long throw bounced over Birketts head and was hooked in. BUSINESS 1 COLLEGIATE 1. A rare Ellison mistake saw collegiate hit the post with an open goal. But Grinders Hunk of the Week then pulled off two world class saves on the line and tipped one round the post. The back 3 of Naylor, Birkett and Jackson held firm. In Midfield Doherty was dominating the field of combat and setting up play as Ashley at one point tackled 3 players in quick succession. The Business were winning all their 50/50s and edging a very close contest. But disaster struck as a possible offside goal was allowed to count after Little Tommy Tickler who lives down the Lane ruled it in.
HALF TIME : BUSINESS 1 COLLEGIATE 2!!!
At half time coach Larkin tinkered with the formation as Bibby came on for Schurle who had to go in for his tea and Peach for lame Jackson. For 10 minutes things looked good and Roberts had a chance to draw level at the far post. But a third goal for the West Derby knuckle draggers saw heads go down and mistakes grow exponentially like Topsy!!!
Caeser and his Simian army may have won the battle but the War goes on!!!
