MATCH Report - MATCH - REDDISH YELLOW - 05 Nov 2023

After last game we knew we had a point to prove, with a smaller squad the girls were nervous but raring to go. Started the game with a high energy it wasn’t long before we had a shot by Gemma and again but couldn’t quite get them on target, we were playing some fabulous football, the points before the game was to find feet and we were certainly doing that, communication was good a great start, finally Gemma winning a header setting Nic up who watched the ball and on the half volley chipped the keeper and made it 1-0. Growing stronger wasn’t long before had another chance, the ball being played through to Nic who kept in by the goal line, a backheel to Dan who was waiting to cross to Gemma for a tap in 2-0. Second half reddish came back into the game, getting a bit more physical and route one football, however with our strong defence couldn’t break us down, with several corners, mid way through the second half a chance game for Beth with a through ball, 1 on 1 with the keeper and slotted it home into the corner 3-0. Topping off an outstanding performance and confirming the winner of Player of the match, with 8 minutes to go Reddish were given an indirect free kick for a questionable back pass, shot hitting Michaela then Caitlin to go in, not long after the striker who had been a hassle all game hit the cross bar, Gill had not had much to do all game but closed the angles down and stayed sharp. Last 6 minutes were tight and some last stitch defending was needed.

Final whistle and a great result, best game of the season so far, communication was brilliant, we played with great patience and desire, showcasing what has been worked on in training. Not one player had a bad game and worked their socks off.
