Fresh of the back of an impressive 4-0 win over Littleport, Buckden were on home soil again for the clash against Swavesey knowing that a win would move them up to 2nd in the league.

Confidence was high in the Buckden dressing room, which could be seen in the football they were playing. Short quick passes in the middle of the pitch, spraying it wide for Dom and Sam who were already giving Swavesey's fullback's nightmares. Buckden didn't have to wait long for the breakthrough, with a quick throw in finding the feet of captain Josh Smith who turned his marker inside out, closed his eyes and swung his left foot, finding the far corner of the goal with a sweet strike. Buckden kept the tempo high with Swavesey seeming to let Buckden have a lot of the ball. After a good bit of play down the left wing, Sam whipped in a ball on a plate for Gman who tucked it away with a smart right-footed finish. The first half came to a close with Swavesey not really having a sniff at goal, Kieran and Timmy keeping the striker in their pocket for the full 90 minutes with Browny having a lot of luck down the right hand side, before picking up an injury and turning into a kangaroo.

The second half started much slower, Buckden seemingly off the pace for the first 5 minutes. After settling down the football was in full flow again, Westbury and Shane covering every blade of glass and keeping the whole team ticking over. Changes were made, with Luke, Lovey, Wou and Liam all getting stuck in, showing the strength and depth of Buckden's squad. The good play continued with the grand re-opening of the noodlebar making it 3-0, business as usual really. The game was won, with Swavesey just going through the motions, but Buckden kept the ball moving with some lovely football. Luke, stepping in at right back, enjoyed a lot of the ball down the right hand side and teaming up well with Dom Smith, with the latter putting in a peach of a ball right on to Liam Iron's foot for an easy tap in to make it 4-0.

Another solid performance from the whole squad and back-to-back 4-0 wins puts them in a commanding position in the league, still with a game in hand over third place. The business end of the season is beginning, with 4 out of the next 5 games away to strong opposition, and Buckden will hope they can keep up their performances and come through the other side with promotion well within their grasp.
