On Saturday 13 September 2025, Bromsgrove Rovers U10 RB travelled to Inkberrow FC to face Inkberrow Eagles U10 Eagles in a 7-a-side league encounter, kicking off at 11:45am. The match ended in a 5-2 defeat for Bromsgrove Rovers in what proved to be a challenging afternoon on the road.

Bromsgrove Rovers lined up in a 2-3-1 formation, with Isaac Byng guarding the goal. The defensive line consisted of Fionn Kelly and Jesse Lawlor as central defenders tasked with thwarting the opposition’s attacks. The midfield trio featured Eleanor Brookes on the right, Rupert Davitt centrally, and Chylo Nicholls on the left, all expected to link defence and attack while supporting both ends of the pitch. Leading the line was striker Henry Edwards, charged with spearheading the offensive efforts. The substitutes named were Jhii Stokes, Nathan Busselli, Freddie Southall, and Seb Attwood.

The match began with Bromsgrove making early changes as Jesse Lawlor was replaced by Jhii Stokes and Rupert Davitt made way for Nathan Busselli just ten minutes in. These tactical substitutions hinted at a desire to inject fresh energy into the side. Shortly after, Bromsgrove’s left midfielder Chylo Nicholls opened the scoring in the 17th minute, demonstrating his attacking threat from wide areas.

At the 20-minute mark, further changes saw Fionn Kelly replaced by Freddie Southall and Eleanor Brookes swapped for Seb Attwood, signalling a reshuffle in both defence and midfield. Despite these adjustments, the first half closed with Bromsgrove holding a narrow advantage.

However, the second half saw Inkberrow Eagles turn the tide emphatically. The home side struck five unanswered goals between the 30th and 43rd minutes, rapidly overturning the deficit. Goals came in quick succession at 30, 31, 36, 39, and 43 minutes, showcasing the Eagles’ clinical finishing and relentless pressure.

Bromsgrove did manage a late consolation goal just before the final whistle, with Rupert Davitt finding the net in the 45th minute. This showed resilience from the visitors despite the mounting scoreline against them.

Fionn Kelly was named player of the match for Bromsgrove Rovers, recognised for his defensive efforts before being substituted early in the second half. His contribution stood out amid a tough contest.

Ultimately, Bromsgrove Rovers U10 RB were unable to contain the attacking prowess of Inkberrow Eagles U10 Eagles on their home turf, resulting in a 5-2 defeat. The match highlighted areas for improvement, particularly in defensive organisation and maintaining momentum after early substitutions.
