MATCH SUMMARY : Woodingdean Wanders (10 September 2016)

BBOB had most of the early play, in the first minute Christian broke down the right and his shot on goal was deflected wide. Three minutes later we won a corner on the left which was taken by Dan Buchanan but came to no avail. Christian was playing well down the right wing and again broke and attacked their defence in the seventh minute. Woodingdean started to get back in the game and scored from a header from a corner in the 18 minute. BBOB’s heads did drop and they fought back to get an equaliser in the 20th minute, Christian intercepting a back pass and slotting the ball home. Mike in goal pulled off several good saves as Woodingdean fought their way back into the game, unfortunately Dan Edwards conceded a free kick half way into our half, the resultant free was headed past Mike and the first half finished 2-1 to Woodingdean.

BBOB started the 2nd half well but unfortunately Adam had to go off injured after 5 minutes and was replaced by debutant Joe Howard. BBOB continued to attack, in the 63rd minute H passed a ball out to Maro on the left who ran at the Woodingdean defence, beating two players before scoring to make it 2-2. The team continued to play, despite changing the formation when Joe came on, and Mike kept us in the game with some excellent goalkeeping, but could not stop their forward from scoring in the 73 minute to make it 3-2 to Woodingdean. Woodingdean were unlucky not to increase their lead, hitting the post twice. A rare defensive error from Paul Barton allowed their attacker to make it 4-2 with just two minutes to go, but the BBOB’s did give up and straight from the kick off Maro picked up the ball on the left and ran at their defence, rounding their keeper and shooting at goal but somehow their defender got back and cleared it off the line. Two minutes later Maro collected the ball, beat a couple of defenders and scored to make it 3-4 to the BBOB. Unfortunately we could not get the equaliser and the game finished 3-4 to the BBOB.

Another good performance from the BBOB, but the rub of the green doesn’t appear to be going our way.
