It finally happenned...BBOB’s 1st team have won a game, and in convincing style! The last victory was a far from convincing win over Portslade Athletic in February 2010. It seems now that BBOB have turned the corner and have finally produced the performance that they have been threatening to do since the early part of season. An early strike from Lee (Chief) Madigan set the tone, a quick move on the edge of Rottingdean's box allowed Ryan Satterley to slide the ball through to Madigan, who blasted his shot past the keeper with an opposition defender struggling to clear the ball from off the goal line.

The second BBOB goal came from a long ball over Rottingdean's defence from Matt Barton, midfielder Jason Anderton beat the offside and looped the ball over the keeper, nine minutes gone and BBOB were in full command of this game. Unfortunately after fifteen minutes Rottingdean were back in it, when defender Adam Leaver pulled the opposing forward’s shirt in the box leaving the referee no choice but to award a penalty. The penalty was converted and the game appeared to be back on for Rottingdean.

After numerous chances BBOB finally made it 3-1 with a long ball played over the top of the Rottingdean defence by goalkeeper Tom Jackson, Lee Madigan ran on to the ball and placed it past the keeper, player manager Steve Maskell appeared to get the final touch as the ball crossed the line. Half time and the new 3-5-2 formation was appearing to work out!

Dan Shrubb replaced Steve Maskell at half time at right wing back.

Rottingdean seemed to start the second half the brighter, and had a few attacks on the BBOB goal but the BBOB defence dealt with them well, in the 55th minute Chris Thomas conceded a foul on the edge of the box, the referee was not happy with the distance of the BBOB wall from the ball, Matt Barton disputed this and found his name in book and yellow carded, this was followed by a second yellow card after further comments were made by the same player and a red card was shown. This seemed a very harsh decision by the referee but Rottingdean’s free kick was poorly taken, straight over the bar. BBOB re-organised to a back four, with Ryan Satterley moving to left back.

Centre back Lee O'Hare was replaced shortly afterwards by Keith Churchward, O'Hare had picked up a knee injury in the first half and couldn't run it off, Churchward was put into left midfield and Howard Lloyd was moved to the centre back spot. Almost immediately a Rottingdean midfielder broke through the defence and slotted his shot past keeper Tom Jackson to reduce the BBOB lead. Suddenly BBOB felt under pressure for the first time in the game.

This pressure was lifted almost straight away when Jason Anderton was played through on the right hand side beyond the Rottingdean defence and placed his shot across the opposing keeper into the back of net to make it 4-2. This was followed by a Rottingdean forward kicking out at BBOB captain Paul Barton to earn himself a straight red card, and with 30 minutes still to play BBOB seemed to be in total control of the game.

BBOB managed to score a further three goals before the end of the game all orchestrated by Lee Madigan, a free kick from the back by Howard Lloyd found Madigan in space, and a cool finish made it 5-2. Two minutes later Madigan broke through the Rottingdean defence again only to be brought down in the box. Chief scored from this resulting penalty to complete his hat-trick. Jason Anderton was unable to continue after picking up a groin injury in the 80th minute, and was eventually replaced by Mick Maskell. Before Maskell entered the pitch (it took him a while!) BBOB scored again, this time Chief's effort on goal was saved by the keeper and from the rebound Chris Thomas side footed it in. 7-2.

Mick Maskell could have made it 8-2 in the dying seconds after latching onto a long ball but he was foiled by the keeper.
