LOST 6-1 - COULD HAVE BEEN 8 -5/6 or 7!

As with the previous game, the teams were much more evenly matched than the scoreline suggests! Our first half was excellent and somehow Bears were not at least level with Noah in particular unlucky a couple of times with shots just wide or the woodwork (and keeper) getting in the way. The passing and movement was very good.

We went a goal down, however Elliot came on for his debut and capped it with a goal to level things up. Unfortunately we conceded another before half-time to be a tight 2-1 down.

The second half was very strange and mixed. We lost our shape - especially defensively - with a lack of support from midfield. Before we knew it we had conceded 3 quick goals before Lostock scored from a poor goal kick (we need to work on these!) which went straight to one of their forwards to complete the scoring. They could have scored more if not for Zac. However...

Despite not defending well in the second half, we still created chances with 2 brilliant saves from Xav and Noah by Lostocks keeper. One of these was the best I have seen at this level and it turns out he was with Stoke last season! There were also a number of opportunity's in the 2nd half when attacking to play a simple pass to someone in a better position - but players wanted to do it themselves and would lose the chance. I will be more impressed with players who make the right pass to create an opportunity than players who try to beat everyone only to lose the ball. Bears could easily have scored 3 or 4 more goals!

As I discussed with the boys afterwards we need to defend as a team as well as attack. We seem to do this really well in the first halves - but not in the second. We have conceded 8 goals in the 2nd halves this season - and have not yet scored. If we play as well in the 2nd half as the first, the results will come!

Excellent debut from Elliot and well taken goal.

MOM Josh - holding the back 3 together in the 2nd half and taking charge of their keepers long kicks.
