vs CROWN ELITE
Away league match

On a lovely morning for football Boldmere got their league points tally up and running with a point in a 2-2 draw against a fiesty Crown Elite side.

The truth is that the scorline did not portray the dominance that Boldmere had in this game.

The gaffer changed the system back to his favoured 4-4-2 formation and with Finn, Brady and Hale all missing from last weeks line up, Olly Nicholson, Jack Salter and Adam Mills came in for their first starts of the season.

Boldmere flew out of the blocks and after 2 minutes had the lead, a good move down the left and good work from Hannon and the lively Duff led to a low ball into the box which Nicholson somehow managed to bundle over the line for the 'Bulldogs' opening goal of the league season. In the 9th minute the referee, to everbodys amazment, decided to award a very dubious penalty for a 'push' in the box on a Crown player and Crown duly dispatched this passed Rich Leighton.

Boldmere were well on top and producing some excellent football, however their endeavours did not bring anymore goals and after several missed chances the half time whistle came with the score at 1-1.

'More of the same please' were the gaffers instructions and this is just what happened! Boldmere continued to dominate..... but continued to miss guilt edged chances! As often happens in football Crown took the lead against the run of play when a ball that Boldmere failed to clear effectively was smashed into the 6 yard box and bundled in by the on rushing Crown forward.

Boldmere continued to press and play some nice football and eventually in the 84th minute they got their just deserts. A long throw from substitute Shakespeare was flicked on by the industrious Liam Hannon and there was Craig Oates to tap home a well deserved equaliser. However, the time was against Boldmere and alas the winner failed to come.

The Boldmere defence was resolute throughout and restricted Crown to hardly any chances, rendering Boldmere keeper Rich Leighton vertually redundant. The post, bar, goaline clearances and 2 unreal goalkeeping saves were the highlights of a catalogue of missed chances for the 'Bulldogs' throughout the game

So plenty to take into next week when Boldmere travel to previously unbeaten Castle Vale Olympic.................... once again, lets hope the 'Bulldogs' bring their shooting boots and bring home the 3 points!
