Home league match

Boldmere continued their excellent league form with a 4 goal romp against a plucky Atlas side. With all other fixtures cancelled due to inclement weather the 'Bulldogs' took their chance to take all 3 precious points and move further away from the chasing pack.

A 5 strong bench of O'Brien, McCausland, Oates, Salter and Duff was named for the game.

The game started and Atlas seemed to get out of the blocks well in the first few minutes, but very quickly Boldmere then started to get their passing game together and in the 8th minute they took the lead when, after some nice passing movement Liam Hannon's short pass was tucked away by Aaron Humphries. Boldmere continued to make big inroads and created a few other chances with Che O'Connor a constant threat. However, the Atlas keeper was in inspired form to keep the 'Bulldogs' at bay. He was left helpless on 18 minutes when he could only parry Liam Hannon's fierce shot and Humphries was on hand to fire home the rebound high into the net for 2-0. On 23 minutes Boldmere and the excellent Aaron Humphries made it 3-0. Che O'Connor was upended by the keeper and up stepped Humphries to despatch the penalty and his own 23 minute hatrick. The game continued to go one way and any slight threats were quickly nullified by the reliable trio of Davis, Haycock and Mills at the back. Chris Dawber was winning the ball with ease and along with skipper Paul Brady and the dominant Humphries Boldmere were dominating proceedings. The Atlas keeper continued his excellent form with a variety of saves to keep the scoreline at 3-0 at the break.

The second half started and Boldmere picked up the momentum of the first half straight away. However, it took until the 72nd minute for Boldmere to deservedly add to their goal tally when Che O'Connor smashed home Liam Hannon's third assist of the game to record his first goal in 'Bulldog' colours. Boldmere did create many more chances, notably Che O'Connor's excellent effort that smashed against the bar and 2 other efforts from 'big John Haycock' that also hit the woodwork, one of which saw him 'glide' through the Atlas defence before smashing a brilliant effort from a tight angle against the woodwork for what would have been a contender for goal of the season. Final score 4-0.

Another valuable 3 points for the 'Bulldogs' in their quest for honors.

Next week Boldmere take on FC Sportsmans in a vital league game. A tough fixture that will require the 'Bulldogs' to be at their very best to take the spoils.
