Away league match

Boldmere came into this game against bottom of the table AFC Sutton knowing that the result was the all important thing. However, having already beaten their opponents 8-2 earlier in the season, they probably didn't expect to score 17 goals in a one sided landslide victory.

With John Haycock and Steve Cullen both missing, Michael Dossett reverted to centre back with Chris O'Brien coming into the side at right wing back and Rich Leighton took over the keeping role. Jack Salter and Rich McCausland were injured leaving a 2 man bench of Craig Oates and James Duff.

Boldmere flew out of the blocks and should have taken the lead on a few occasions before they actually did in the 13th minute when Che O'Connor fired home Liam Hannon's assist. In a very one sided first half Boldmere were to score another 5 with Liam Hannon bagging an excellent and well deserved treble, O'Connor hit a brace and Chris Dawbers excellent finish for his first goal of the season made up the scorers in the first period. AFC Sutton did score a goal in a very rare attack, when a Sutton player finished well passed a helpless Rich Leighton. So half time saw the score at 6-1.

With the game virtually won the gaffer brought on James Duff and Craig Oates at half time, replacing Aaron Humphries and Michael Dossett who had both shown well.

The second half was exactly the same with the 'Bulldogs' totally dominant. Skipper Brady, Chris Dawber, Tom Shakespeare were totally dominating the game, with James Duff and Chris O'Brien creating havoc down both flanks and Hannon and O'Connor looking prolific up front they looked like scoring in every attack. Some glaring chances were also missed, but Boldmere added 11 more second half goals running out emphatic winners by 17 goals to 1.

Che O'Connor scored 6 goals and Liam Hannon scored 4 to take his tally to 14 for the season, in a formidable performance by both of these players. Tom Shakespeare scored a fine brace for his first goals of the season and skipper Paul Brady also notched 2 to take him to 12 goals for the season, James Duff also got on the scoresheet with a great solo effort and even Adam Mills got on the scoresheet when he calmly fired home a penalty for his first goal for 3 years.

So a rampant win against an AFC Sutton side that showed a lot of heart and never gave in.

Now, with just two league games to go, the 'Bulldogs' will need to hit their very top form in their quest for honours.

Next week Boldmere have a weeks break before returning to action against a tough Minworth side. Boldmere will be hoping for a much better performance than the last time the 2 sides met in the Challenge Cup, when Boldmere just didn't turn up in a one sided victory for Minworth. This time 'Bulldogs ' hope to bring their 'A' game on 2nd April in the Rumsby Cup Semi Final, hoping to add the icing on top of the cake with a cup final appearance to their already excellent season
