Home league match

Thursday saw a return to a bitter rivalry between two dangerous opponents. Things got off to a bad start. Hoff Jnr arrived sporting a new hair cut, ready for a date at the weekend, which Jnr Jnr judged to be 'fucking shit'. Battle lines were drawn, and we were shoved on either the side of the wing, presumably to keep us apart. My mum uses a similar tactic in the car, taking the middle seat between us in the back, to stop the physical fights.

Things went from bad to worse as the game kicked off. Hoff Jnr, despite some fluid play, was not getting lucky in front of goal (read: missed a load of sitters). Hoff Jnr Jnr was his usual understanding self, with cries of 'you're losing it', 'not your night', 'just fucking pass' coming from the other side of the pitch.

The oppo were pretty crap, so Hoff Jnr Jnr got lucky a couple of times and scored some goals, if you can call them that. One was a left foot chip of the keeper, as good example as any that without a good goal keeper, just getting it on target is enough. His second came from a very neat set up by Hoff Jnr from a corner: Jnr laid it perfectly on a plate and Jnr Jnr managed not to fuck it up.

After putting the oppo under pressure all night, Jnr finally got one away, with a neat one two with Latchford capped by a fluid finish. The type of play that long time BoC fans have come to expect from the older, more experienced twin.

The final whistle brought an end to another dark hour for Jnr and Jnr Jnr. The scoreline didn't reflect the run of play, with numerous chances by Jnr just not quite finished, and Jnr Jnr getting very lucky on his two moments in front of goal. Some pundits had thought that regular Thursday night football together could bring about a long needed reconciliation between the two, but for tonight the hatred and distrust are only further entrenched.

some other stuff happened - Chris got 2. Tony scored a cracker. Everyone had a pretty good game against a weaker oppo. Some people went to the pub and presumably got blind drunk, because when they sent me the match details, they misspelt my name for MOTM, giving it to Hoff Jnr Jnr. Given how bad a game he had, I’ve decided to keep the mistake, in the hope it might lift his spirits, after another evening watching his older brother outperform him.
