Entertaining Ringer-Fest

Stu did really well to cobble together a team of 6 BoC regulars, the returning Neil and 4 ringers, 2 from ASJS, 1 from his Sunday side and 1 from the 5-a-side game before.

While Puntah also pulled off a miracle to get an oppo out: a core of 5 or so Foster's Spanish contingent + Sam ringer + a few more from the 5 a side game.

Surprisingly good game, after all that. Ilyas fired in after good work from Puntah for 1-0. We were looking fairly comfortable until we had a mini-collapse and found ourselves 3-1 down at the break. A near post flick header which went in off my nose, after we allowed a cross from the right. A decent finish which left Tys rooted after we gave the striker far too much time to line up a shot and a loose ball tucked in when a big boot away would probably have cleared.

Second half was a different matter, as we lay siege to the oppo goal, one of their stand-in keepers in particular making a string of saves. How he clawed away a Neil shot when we were all starting to celebrate the goal I will never know. We were hitting crossbar, post etc.

Eventually a Troy cross found Ilyas and he steered a header in. The impressive Troy then poked in for the equaliser and we settled for that.

Pub was quite lively and possibly a few sore heads on Friday morning.

My head was ok but I have a bruise on the bridge of my nose which was either from nosing the first oppo goal in or taking a thunderbolt shot full in the face.

Ringer A - Malcolm (ASJS), decent use of the ball, but needs to work on his defending

Ringer B - Mike (Stu's vets team), had a good game, hit the woodwork

Ringer C - Troy (Park 5-a-side), played well - direct and effective

Ringer D - Bart (ASJS) - had a quiet game. A bit unlucky with 1 shot
