With all the talk last week of wall-building, this week saw us follow through with our threat.
A central defensive pairing of Jackson Flash and Molby kept the elite at bay, in yet another unexpected victory for the working class. Molby pushed forward, almost as a defensive midfielder, resulting in several key interceptions. At one point he even "wiggled his hips", like days of yore, throwing off a few tackles before nicely distributing the ball to someone else (who no doubt lost possession).
Ably assisted by Intertoto and Punter in midfield Harretons rarely bothered us, in fact the most threatening they ever were was against our right back ringer who happened to be one of their players, yelling at him every time he had the ball "HE DOESN'T LIKE IT".
Fickle lot, the elite.
Stu
Ringer, Flash, Molby, Neal
Hoff Jnr, Intertoto, Punt, Boyband
Illy, Tony
[Boyband and Neal sharing the keeper duties as well]
With no half time (sturdy lot, the elite - no need for a break for these heroes) it was hard to know what the half time score was, but let's just say it was 0-0.
Hoff Jnr opened the second half scoring, bundling home from Tony's through ball.
A few other chances went begging, Illy and Tony snatching wide, and Illy shooting tamely at the keeper with Tony in acres of space.
Wise choice though, as everyone knows Tony is rubbish in front of goal and would've missed anyway.
Near-miss of the day goes to Boyband, running onto Tony's layoff and guiding the ball inches wide of the top corner.
A bit of curl and it would have been a worldy, but now is utterly meaningless.
Soz Boyzie.
Also meaningless is Punter's embarrassing "shot" from outside the box, slicing for a throw in near the corner flag.
However, miss of the day probably goes to Hoff Jnr, a beautiful cross-field ball from Neal saw the young'un sneak around the back unmarked, only to plant his six-yard-line volley out for a genuine throw in.
Tony sealed the points, taking Punter's pass and turning adroitly before slotting under the keeper. Comfortable in the end for the BoC plebs.
BOG going to The Flash for a sterling performance at the back, helping to Make BoC Great Again.
