Worth A Try

Fosters player Manu turned up in a white shirt, so I tried to nab him to play for us, but Fosters rightly lent us Islam instead. Islam tried his best, but not quite as good as Manuel.

We started with 10 as we thought Andy was going to be a few minutes late, Olly lining up in defence. Fosters missed Tom at the back and a proper keeper.

First half was fairly even, we exchanged 4 goals, Paul with our first and Alex with a strange second. The oppo first was a poor bit of defending from me (a weak header to their striker) and can’t remember their second but they also had one disallowed for offside. 2-2 at the break.

Andy turned up at half time, allowing Ollie to step up into midfield and we pushed on, further Paul and Alex goals sandwiched a tap-in from Islam, after good work by Paul. 5-2 and that should have been that, particularly since we also had 2 goals chalked off (offside and a hand ball, if I recall correctly) but Andy placed a lovely cushioned header oggy past the outrushing Tyson and then a false shout of offside with James playing them on in the near darkness meant the oppo had surprisingly got back in it at 5-4.

The park keeper remembered his job and eventually turned on the floodlights, allowing Ollie to bang in a couple of late goals; one a shot from the edge of the box, that took a deflection, the second a one on one with the keeper. So 7-4 in the end and a dominant second half deservedly won it for us.

Ringer A - Matt (Kurt Geiger) - very good

Ringer B - Islam (Fosters) - not quite as good, but fair play to him - he did score
