Bossed It... Then Lost It!

Well, bossed it might be slightly exaggerating, but we were 2-0 up for most of the game in a sticky, rainy night at Battersea.

Potentially the oldest back 5 BoC has ever fielded we thought - Tyson (56?), full backs Simon and Nigel (both 63), me (54) and spring chicken Stu (almost 50).

Took the lead when Ilyas released Ben who produced a peach of a cross for Cesar to head home. Ben scrambled in a few minutes later for 2-0.

Chris Hough with some good flicks up front, but Ilyas perhaps was looking for the Chris H of 40 years ago when he launched a ball over the top for Chris to run on to.

Match played in pretty good spirits but Cesar fouled a couple of times. No arguments really each time, but one of their players chose to take exception to one where he had taken Cesar out in mid-air. Might have been an accident, but definitely a foul. For some reason Tyson and their midfielder got into a slanging match which ended with

Oppo midfielder: "get back in your goal"

Tyson: "you get back in your goal"

Oppo midfielder: "I'm not in goal"

Made me laugh, anyway!

Anyway, we were doing well, had a few chances to add to our lead, but somehow they managed to wear us down, pulling one back with 12 minutes to go, then equalising and going in front in fairly quick fashion with a couple of nice lobs from distance.

We had sustained pressure at 2-3 but in the end although we played until about the 75 minute mark they scored on the break to make it 2-4.

2-0 felt harsh on them, but I thought 2-4 was harsh on us. As Stu said: "Played really well against a strong side. Youth won out in the end".

And a special mention for Chris Hough. 2-0 up when he went off!
