Home league match
A first match for BoC against new team and close alphabetical namesakes BGC. The B*C derby, even. Anyway, that's quite enough of that BS.
Tommy was a bit late and we were struggling with the "3 at the back" experiment that never quite works, the oppo's lively striker/winger reached the byline and cut back into the centre for a thumping finish. Usual slow start, 0-1.
We got back into it when we had the full compliment of players, nice work by Paul, who had a lively game and caused the oppo no end of problems, with the equaliser. A deflected shot from Cesar, which was going in anyway, I am told, and we were 2-1 up. At this point we were having a lot of the game and could actually have scored a few more.
Second half, really nice move on the left, Paul to Hoof-Min-Son, Hoof-Min-Son ran down the touch line and a simple cross for Cesar to tap in his second of the game and 3-1.
Nice shot into the bottom corner from the oppo midfielder, which grazed Ilyas's fingertips, pegged us back to 3-2, but we fairly quickly restored our two goal cushion with a shot into the top of the net from Hoof Min Son, 4-2 and we should have been comfortable to see the game out.
Of course we conceded from a corner, the oppo defender nipping between Tyson and myself to toe poke one into the corner of the net past Ilyas.
A few nervy moments after that, not least a claimed handball in the box, but we saw it out for te 4-3 win.
Tyson and Ilyas 1/2 in goal each.
A few shouts for man of the match - Edu was excellent, as were Paul and Stu I thought, but Hoof Min Son got the pub vote.
Lively in the Latch, most of the oppo were there and a decent turnout from BoC including AWOL Andy and Chelsea fan Paul. Two matches to watch; Liverpool v Sheff Utd went to form eventually, but Chelsea v Man Utd was a real back and forth affair, finishing with the same scoreline as our match. I think Paul left at 2-3 though and missed Cole Palmer's injury time winner.
Good new oppo. A couple more games are booked into the schedule against them.
