Simon from ASJS joined the old dear from my local Sainsbury's and the cleaner from work in a growing list of people to recognise me as star of TV's Countdown - quite a salubrious group. He had incorrectly asked Boyband whether he had been on Countdown, so he clearly wasn't paying too much attention. Cast of thousands last night meant that everyone bar Tyson and Zamora subbed for 20 each. ASJS are a good side now and ran us close in what was a tight game. The first half was particularly fraught with neither side really on top. ASJS had a lot of the ball without any clear chances. We looked dangerous on the break, and managed to nick the lead after 25 mins or so - Ilyas was gifted the ball from their defender in the box and easily slotted home. Zamora put in two excellent crosses to Hoff Jnr which almost resulted in goals, Jnr hitting the post with a volley from one of them. Tommy dazzler came caused a lot of problems when he came on after 20 minutes, one mazy dribble ended with Tom squaring to Toto who greedily flicked the ball up and volleyed against the cross bar - does that guy ever pass the ball? Zola was unlucky to not score with the follow up. One-zip at the break.
BOC were the better side after the break, and Hoff Jnr was the catalyst for a lot of the good stuff we played. He had a ten or fifteen minute spell where he really put the afterburners on and engaged beastmode, totally unplayable. BOCs second came from a blisteringly quick Jnr burst down the right and a neat cut-back that Ilyas easily dispatched right footed, a great goal. We probably could have won by more in the end. Zamora was particularly unlucky with a one-bounce volley struck from a full 35 yards which looped high and wide, bouncing softly a few yards short of the six yard box and ultimately out for a goal kick. Ilyas could have had a hat-trick in the end, smashing over from 12 yards. Good pub attendance to toast a good win.
