It was nil-nil at half time on a rainy night, so there must have been a few worries that the game was going to end 0-1 or 0-2 after our recent bad run of results. I was confident of a win though. I told Stu on the bus on the way up that I had a feeling we would win.
But of course you need goals to do that. And they had been in short supply. Nor did it help that we were missing Chris, Paul, Ben and Tony.
ASJS were sporting a couple of ringers but giving us as usual a good battle. However we were getting stuck in and trying to pass it around.
An oggy - what else - was to break the goal drought. Andy did well to keep the ball alive, fed Ilyas down the left and his cross somehow got bundled in by a defender. Joyous scenes.
We had the bit between our teeth and Henry down the right wing squared for Charlie to hammer home.
Small blemish when ASJS scored following a long ball over the top.
However we dug in, weathered some pressure and finished the game off when Ilyas slightly wayward shot was diverted in by Alex.
More joyous scenes as the game ended and we had ended the poor run. That first pint tasted even sweeter after the well earned victory.
