Vs Mid Somerset

Twice we have played Mid Somerset this season and twice we have been our own cause to the loss. Lack of belief, inspiration, work rate and character from the boys today.

We lacked belief to play the ball forward, to make forward runs and to see movement off the ball.

There were not a lot of messages given prior to the game.

1) They attack wide. Fullbacks get tight, dont let them turn and run at you.

2) Be more advanced, get numbers forward

That said, again I respect the character shown at the end of the game from many of the players. There was some want and desire and because of that we very nearly stole a point. But why does it take for the last 20 for us to start doing something? The rubbish long ball football is the only thing that works?

I think the period of lockdown may help us with regards to our football. I know I will go away and look at our first handful of games and analysis the things we are good at and not so good at.

I would like to re address the message that I have so much belief in ALL of these boys that one day they can push into Academy level of football, if they want it. My job is to make sure they enjoy every aspect of their football and to have the biggest and best experiences in their footballing years. Covid - 19 has not helped with the shire amount of plans I had for this team this season - away from the football pitch - but I think the team spirit and friendships are great amongst the boys still, despite the implications. The training and messages given, analysis and tactical jobs are all minor compared to the levels these boys are capable of playing at. They are all learning so much, every week.

The Win's are just around the corner, this team has so much talent, we just lack belief.
