An unfortunate open day loss.
The boys worked hard in this fixture but perhaps could have started with better tempo. Blues allowed BIC to gain early control and confidence on the ball.
Growing into the quarter Blues had 2 golden opportunities that I am sure with a little more game time those chances will be finished comfortably.
The second quarter saw us get caught defensively with a ball played over the top, good finish 1-0 to BIC.
Blues did get more control of the ball after this and started to play some really good close possession play, good diagonal passes to try and get us in on goal.
It wasnt until the third quarter that Blues managed to get the equaliser. A great ball played into the space for Jack Ward to run through onto, took around the GK and needed a little help from hitting one of their defenders to get the ball into the net.
They say you are most vulnerable after just scoring and this was exactly what happened. Lack of concentration BICC almost played right through the Blues side, shot at goal and made it 2-1 straight from our equaliser.
This proved to be a game changer and Blues never really found the momentum they needed to go onto getting goals back and winning the game. Lots of strong challenges and aggressive play from BIC helped them see out the game.
The final quarter Blues had chances to get back into the game. They changed to a 2-5-2, sacrificing a defender to try and grab 2 goals in the last 20 minutes.
Lots of chances and shots from long range and quite a few corners but Blues couldnt find the reward. BIC hit on the counter midway through and killed, 3-1.
A slight chance of getting back into it late on was missed from the spot. BIC countered us again, beating us for pace at the back to make it 4-1 with a few minutes to go.
Good efforts from large majority of the team. Some key defensive work to be done as well as some sharpness in the final third and in front of goal.
Gold - Owen Mills
