Away league match
A much depleted Blackbrook team went down 7-0 away to league leaders Vulcan.
'Brook started the game with 10 men, with Migoski out after suffering a serious injury in the cup win, Swaine suspended and Osborne at the NFL.
Switching to a 4-4-1 formation, McCartney started in the centre of midfield with wingers Senior and Owen dropping back into conventional wide midfield roles leaving Williams to plough a lone furrow upfront.
In truth the game was very competitive despite the one-sided look to the scoreline. 'Brook certainly weren't helped in the first half by some extremely questionable refereeing decision and were unlucky to go into the break 3-0 down.
Daverin and Morley picked up injuries during the first half but had no choice but to stay on, Williams, who never stopped running the whole game, moved into Centre Mid with Daverin moving up top.
The effort and commitment of the Blackbrook players couldn't be questioned as they ran themselves into the ground. During the second half they started to take control and created a number of half chances before Vulcan scored 3 late goals as the 'Brook players understandably tired.
An outstanding effort from every player . Vulcan are a good team, having put 9 past Newton and 6 past Astley & Tyldesley so to only lose by 7 (with 3 of those late goals) is by no means a poor result, especially given the circumstances.
Next up for 'Brook is a trip to Newton Broncos who surprised everyone by beating Pilks last weekend.
