The Black Cats had another 8:30 KO for their MYSL Christmas cup semi. In freezing temperatures the ball was zipping around the frozen Astro in the warm up. After some tight opening exchanges a shot from a tight angle squirmed through Cian’s gloves to give Mountfield the lead. The ball must have picked up some of the frost as it looked like trying to catch a salmon. Nobody was deterred though and West continued to pile the pressure on Mountfield as the half progressed - the goals must be coming!?!
Queue the inexplicable. A scramble in the Mountfield box led to one of their players picking the ball up on the line. Rudy converted the penalty like a pro. Three minutes later with the half drawing to a close some good work by Joel on the left wing saw Arthur put West ahead for the first time. ??
After the break Eddie and then Zac took it in turns to provide assists for Harry. The Black Cats were turning their possession and quality on the ball into a solid lead now. Shout out to Arthur for a MOTM performance today for his driving runs and all round team performance.
In the final few minutes Mountfield pulled a goal back, but in truth the Black Cats had this one under control. Well done boys a great way to book you places in the final ??
