You didn’t want to turn up late to this one. The first half was a masterclass in starting strong. From the whistle boys, from the ****** whistle.

Harry had a hat trick within the first ten minutes and then not to be outdone Zac netted four before the break. This included an absolute cracker of a free kick (which Ed has shared the video of far and wide…). 7-0 after the first third.

The two goal machines on the bench the second third started strong with a much deserved goal from Arthur, who had made several strong runs up to that point. Cue the Elite FC comeback. The opposition half time team talk obviously worked as they had come back out firing. Two goals set nerves racing in the West ranks. Surely we can protect a 6 goal lead? No sweat. Especially with Cian being an absolute brick wall in net and Kole sweeping up everything and anything where danger threatened.

Next a lovely combination between Rudy and Joel for 9-2. With the half drawing to a close on came Harry and he didn’t let the break slow him down as he scored his 4th of the match. 10-2 with a third left.

The third half was a much tighter affair - the West weetabix power running low. The highlight was a lovely assist from Arthur setting Joel up for his second of the match.

Final score 12-5 to West. Well done lads. A great birthday present for coach Ed.
