Basics First, Basics Right!

BSFC Reserves 3–1 Billingham United Reserves

22 November 2025 – SRC Bede College – 1:30pm KO

Before a ball was even kicked, the tone was set.

Management delivered a crystal-clear message in the dressing room:

“WHO’S UP FOR TODAY?!

We respect the derby — but we fear nothing.

No one-man armies. Be aggressive. Minimal touches. Move the ball.

Do the basics right again, we win again. Simple as that.”

And importantly, the lads were reminded of last week’s Final Word:

“We’ve set the standard.

Now we stick to it — every session, every match, every moment.”

Credit to the squad — they followed that message in training all week.

Standards were higher. Intensity was up. Focus was stronger.

And today, in a big local derby, that work showed.

Match Summary

Billingham Synthonia Reserves delivered a brilliant, confident and energetic 3–1 victory over Billingham United Reserves — a perfect birthday present for the Gaffer ????.

Setting up in a 3-4-1-2, the Synners controlled the tempo from early on.

Chances for PJ, Logan, Nathan, and Kaden showed the attacking intent, with the back three of Taylor, Josh, and Bobby giving the team a strong base.

The first half ended goalless, but the belief was there.

?

Second Half – Synners Turn the Screw

Just three minutes after the restart came the breakthrough:

48’ – Peter Jason calmly slotted home after a composed assist from Liam Harman.

United hit back quickly, but the response from Synners was mature — no panic, no dip in energy.

The subs made a huge impact.

Luca, Sonny, and Franky injected energy, pace, and control.

Chances piled up, pressure grew, and finally…

90+5’ – Liam Harman smashed home to restore the lead after excellent link-up play from Luca.

Moments later, with United wobbling:

90+7’ – Sonny Richardson buried the third to wrap up the derby.

3–1. Fully deserved.

?

A Moment We Absolutely Cannot Ignore…

In the 98th minute, Joshua Thornton stepped up for a penalty — and oh my word.

Let’s just say the keeper didn’t even need gloves for that one ????

A perfect comedy ending to a perfect derby day.

(Expect to hear about that one for YEARS, big man.)
