Match Report
South Park Rangers v Synners
A game which makes you appreciate the setup at the Synners sports ground. A shocker of a pitch with long grass on the wings and some huge divots making passing and controlling very difficult for the kids.
1st Half
The game panned out as expected, very scrappy with not much happening in the first half as both teams spent most of the game having to tackle each other without any chance of passing the ball. Jenson cleared up well at the back with Archie alongside winning tackles and driving up the pitch when he could. Rangers took the lead with what in fairness was an excellent free kick. They doubled the lead with the ball taking a horrendous bounce as Henry looked to recover the ball, nothing he could about it. We had a few half chances before half time, Fin with a left footed shot, then almost scoring after flying into a tackle with the goalkeeper, the ball trickling the wrong side of the post. Seth did well with a few dribbles on the right but came up against the Teesdock jungle on the wings making it impossible to move the ball with any speed. Archie had a couple of half chances on the counter attack

2nd Half
Changes at half time and we found some momentum after conceding a couple of goals to take the game to 0-4, a couple of which were following some generous decisions from the ref.
Ollie got us back into the game with two quick fire goals ??. Winning strong tackles in midfield he found the net with some strong finishes, one of which he finished only wearing a sock on his right foot ??. Those of a certain age might remember Paul Gascoigne scoring a similar goal (think it’s on YouTube ??)
South Park were now in panic mode just hoofing it anywhere. Again Olly found the net with a long range goal, great finish. With the game in the balance at 4-3, Arthur shot narrowly wide from the edge of the box - unlucky!Rangers were awarded a baffling penalty as the ball clipped someone’s arm when fired into the box from a corner. Where’s VAR ?? when you need it??
Penalty was well taken to make the score 5-3. Ezra made some good saves from a couple of shots and James made some strong tackles alongside Henry who battled well and got forward when he could.
Not to be, but a spirited performance.
Dev Game
3-0 Synners
A 6v6 game which showed Synners squad depth. Marksman Ollie fired in another hat-trick. Well done! ?????? Synners in control and spent most of the game in the opposition half. Billy came into the back line and kept us solid with some good tackling and good positioning.
All in all a very solid dev game with no real worries for us. Looking forward to 7v7 next season.
