MATCH REPORT
BJFC 6-13 Scouse Bounce
"Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward" said some bloke who probably wrote a lot of books and never actually fell on his face. Even if he did, he didn't do it on 3G, those rubber grazes leave a permanent mark.
So where did we go wrong? Well we shouldn't have let Jack Cryer return to China for a start. Where else? We should probably learn to take our chances. Anything else of note? We probably shouldn't have left 8m of space between our last defender and our lonely keeper, Jake Hawkyard.
Did anything go well? William Nicoll and Tom Coulthard bagged a couple of nifty goals each, whilst Harri Saunders put in another sterling performance. Ryan Craig, Niall Nagar and James Sproston were largely ineffective during the game, but Craig still managed to get himself on the scoresheet.
How can we improve next time? The return of Harry Van Der Hoek to the matchday squad will add that clinical aspect back to the side's attack. With the Australian as the team's focal point, the defence should sit a little deeper and in greater numbers; we play best on the counter-attack, so inviting the other team into our half may be the best way to get round such stubborn opposition.
We'll have to improve anyway because we'll be playing against the same team again next week. Hopefully that will go better than this time, and we can bring the overall BJFC-SBFC score level.
Until next time.
