Home league match

The Juniors kicked off their NUSU Campus Leagues Div 2 campaign with an emphatic win on Sunday, clocking up 12 goals, spread around the team.

Few of the local media outlets gave the Juniors much hope going into the clash, as the Daily Shmail and The Moon both branded the lads as 'Minions without a clue'. But we wear the tag with pride, and some bow-legged jet-lagged Canaries were going to come onto our turf and walk over us.

Coming over from the arse-end of Britain to our shit creek was always going to be tough for the farm boys, but the Juniors' lightning start ended the game almost as soon as it began, as an own goal and a dubious Jack Edwards strike gave the lads an early 2-0 lead. After some more luxurious play, the Juniors stretched their already palatial lead, as Harri Saunders scored one, and Tom Coulthard added another. Saunders then doubled his tally with a controversial goal, hitting both posts before bouncing out. Ignoring the goal-line technology, and being convinced by Edwards and Jake Hawkyard talking about "spin", the referee gave the goal.

The Academy pulled one back, swiftly adding that they "should be winning". But those trivial thoughts were soon crushed by a smart finish by Coulthard, a close-range tap in for James Sproston, and Jack Cryer's poke home. Following some decent Hawkyard stops, Harry Van Der Hoek ran the length of the pitch to score his first of the game, and William Nicoll converted from Saunders' pass. To wrap up the scoring, HVDH notched in another, and Sproston fizzed a shot into the bottom corner from Cryer's lay off.

After the match, the referee gave Jakey boy the MOTM award for his impressive debating skills. A personal win for Hawks was also a big win for the Juniors, as they now sit top of the league. But we're all worried about Jack Cryer, who either was too desperate to wait to get to the toilet or decided to imitate a crab. We don't know which.

As always big love to Mob Kitchen for forever inspiring us to be better and eat nice food.
