MATCH REPORT
BJFC 14-0 Benteke Fried Chicken
Full of the energy ready to right their wrongs against Pres At Supples, Berocca Juniors were surprised to find a fatigued Benteke Fried Chicken side lining up against them.
With the knowledge that the Juniors had their best five available, Pres At Supples did what any other team would do, send in the cannon fodder.
Clearly this wasn't an isolated incident, since Benteke Fried Chicken had been given a 17-3 run around in their warm up fixture. Though the lads only had five, they could smell blood.
Having said that, the match started slowly. With a pleasant evening sun lighting up the emerald pitch, it seemed far more leisurely than the team had anticipated, worrying the Gaffer that a bit of complacency had slipped into the minds of the players.
However, the boys soon got up and running, as Tom Coulthard and William Nicoll put the lads well in front. James Sproston also chipped in with a rare goal before half time.
With Harry Van Der Hoek out of net, the lads benefited from the fresh legs on the pitch, and quickly built on the 5-0 lead they'd built in the first half.
Harri Saunders provided plenty of assists all match, but was finally rewarded with a goal after shouting "WILL PLEASE" when bearing down on goal.
Despite the scoreline, the lads clearly weren't at their best, as several goals were the result of quantity of shots rather than quality. But their trial and error approach paid off, especially for HVDH who was assisted by the keeper and defenders alike on a number of occasions.
Sproston did, however, manage to score his first ever Soccer Gods hattrick. Hopefully one of many to come.
