Away friendly match

Playing in the picturesque town of Reigate, Baltic made heavy weather against a team they had beaten 6-1 earlier in the season.

The game started evenly with both sides looking to get forward but without creating any chances. The visitors slowly began to take control, knocking the ball about across the back and middle of the park without managing to put the final ball into the box. Although the Reigate attack was a little toothless, the defence and midfield were fairly solid. Baltic rang the changes after 30 minutes and almost immediately, Tony Roberts received the ball in the box but could not convert. The visitors continued to press and created further half chances without success, the game ending level at the break.

Baltic started the second half sluggishly. From one of the only times Reigate ventured into the box, they were awarded a penalty when Michael Pudney handled. Perhaps slightly harsh, but Baltic did not complain.

The penalty was duly dispatched low, hard and under the body of young Woodhouse Junior in goal and that shot on target would end up being Reigate's only one of the game.

Baltic continued to frustrate as they were unable to get the ball up to the front two with regularity and were unable to create chances to get a foothold back in the game.

The second wave of substitutions occurred on the hour and gave the visitors an extra dimension of players running at defenders and stretching tired legs.

The equaliser arrived courtesy of the inform Ricky Baxter. Adrian Bradley went on one of his trademark dribbles down the wing and passed it across the box to the unmarked left winger whose first time effort flew past the keeper and into the roof of the net. A well deserved goal for the team who were well on top.

The visitors were winning the ball back with regularity now and creating a host of chances. Tony Roberts, Phil Broughton and Ricky Baxter all wasting opportunities. However, as the game entered the last 10 minutes, Baltic's pressure paid off with Scott Poulier controlling a ball in the box turning and smashing the winner low and hard, under the keeper. Baltic continued to run riot in the remaining time but were unable to add to their tally.

There will be harder tests ahead but for the never say die attitude and tenacity Baltic can be happy with their days work
