Match Report - SHELBOURNE - 18 Feb 2024

Ballymun United travelled to play Shels on Sunday in a friendly in santry. Both teams eager to play as the scheduled match on Saturday was cancelled. Shels opened the scoring early on from a corner which wasn’t contested and it was an easy tap in for 1-0. Shortly after a nice passage of play found their no10 at the edge of the area to open his body up and he finished brilliantly. Ballymun 2-0 down didn’t deserve it as they matched shels for quality on the pitch and they knocked on the door a few times before Lj hit yet another long ranger from distance just before the first break. Ballymun United dominated the second half and scored again through Lj who hammered a shot from the edge of the box into the net to make it 2-2. Ballymun enjoyed more of the ball and created chance after chance but couldn’t take the lead.. shels scored through their full back with a great strike from inside the area to make it 3-2 then in the final 10 mins shels pounced on a loose ball in the area to make it 4-2. Ballymun played brilliantly and deserved something from the game but it was a good workout for their upcoming cup game. Special mentions to Cian Matthews, Daniel Clonan, Evan Clarke who were outstanding.
