Leixlip V Ballymun

Ballymun travelled to Leixlip hoping to turn things around from Wednesday evenings disappointing result. The lads started well spraying the ball around well other than one or two half chances for both sides ballymun were probably the more dominant in the early stages until the 18th minute when a loose ball was caught by their #8 who raced into the box and slotted the ball passed cian in goal. 1-0 down the lads reacted well and put pressure on the Leixlip back line which were answered going into the break. Ballymun came out all guns blazing and found themselves level shortly after the break through an outstanding free kick from the skipper Lj. That goal gave the lads more and more confidence and they dominated the next stages of the game and Lj found Tadhg in space on the left he cut inside and unleashed an incredible shot into the top corner to put Ballymun 2-1 up. Ballymun then were thrown long ball after long ball and dealt with it brilliantly, as the final stages of the game commenced Leixlip were piling on the pressure and got a very very soft free kick at the edge of the corner flag. The ball was whipped in we didn’t get a head on it and it bounced off one of the lads and found its way just over the line.. completely undeserved ballymun walk away with one point instead of all three. Outstanding second half performance today. Lj Cobbe having a season to remember ?????? and special mention to Tadhg for that finish absolutely top class. Onto the next one now??
