SFAI Trophy donnacarney V Ballymun Utd

Ballymun travelled to Bettystown in the next round of the SFAI trophy hoping to make it three wins on the bounce in the competition. Ballymun unfortunately didn’t get off the the best of starts and found themselves 1-0 down in the early stages due to a poor mistake. Within the next ten minutes Donnacarney hit 2 more goals due to rebounds from a Cian Matthews save and went into the Break 3-0 up. Ballymun came out hopeful in the second half holding on to a glimmer of hope to get back into the game, they knocked the ball around more comfortably in the second half and went for it a little more. A through ball from the Donnacarney #8 found their winger who cut across Max and raced towards the goal slotting their fourth of the game. Ballymun almost opened their account through Cian Borromeo but the keeper pulled off a comfortable save to deny him. Donnacarney were then awarded a penalty late in the game as Cillian brought down his man in the area and they converted to make it 5-0 and crash Ballymun out of the competition. The lads have played brilliant football leading up to todays game and unfortunately weren’t at the races today.
