Walshestown FC Vs Ballivor FC

Very tough, competitive, tight game today against a strong, physical Walshestown side. Nothing between the sides in the first half, but Walshestown broke the deadlock with a well placed through ball that their striker finished well. Our lads kept battling but only managed to threaten the opposition goal 2 or 3 times, despite supplying a lot of good crosses. It looked like it’d be one of those days where nothing falls right for us.

The second half was more of the same battling. Some lovely football and a few shots hitting the woodwork early on changed the flow. It took 18 minutes before the lads levelled the game, but it was on the cards. Euan battled hard to win the ball on the right wing, got the pass across to Adam who slotted a low well placed strike into the far left bottom corner. The game remained very tight at 1-1, with our lads creating far more chances. Eventually Tadgh McG got on the end of a long ball from Liam, and calmly found the bottom right corner. Walshestown looked to level again and Ballivor had to work hard at the back to keep them out. This hard work paid off when Alan lobbed a high ball over the top of the defence that Tadgh McG managed to convert with style.

The performance today from start to finish was very confident, organised and patient. The lads never gave up, never lost their shape and kept doing the right things. They deserved something from the game, and fought hard to get their 3points. Well done to everyone!!
