Home friendly match

All around us, Brighton's Pride Event was evident by the mountains of rubbish, Sunburnt Hangovers and Squibb's breath.

Yet there we were, the B town faithful, standing (groggily) on the windswept hill of Stanley Deason. Football's bane,

looking to the horizon, right up to the first whistle, for a stand in Goalkeeper on a promise, which was to be shattered.

But there we were... Ian, looking delusionally confident in Goal and a fair B Town team, on their toes and waiting for the game to start... It started with a Bang! 3 minutes played and we're down 1 nil. Ians confidence pooling round his socks, like a bad curry experience. Straight from the kick-off, Kemptown had kept the ball, pinged it out to the left (for the first of many times) and crossed into the box, with a rare misjudgement on a Pal header and a couple of missed chances to block, the forward smashed in a half volley, directly over the bald dome of the terrified glove deputy, who was left standing like a mannequin who's arms had been raised.

The rest of the half was fairly even, some good possesion from B Town, with Callum, Rino and Chuck seeing plenty and looking lively. Kemptown were alwys a threat on the break with us seeing so much of the ball in the final third but some great defending from Tom, Matty and Pal and Baker. the latter having had a really good game in the middle before a quick re-shuffle due to the gasping Crouchie, an early victim of the timing, conditions and sprinting chases down the flanks.

Half time was met with some chattering and moaning, giving the coaches little chance to bring us together, which is an important lesson becuase the second half started under the pressure of a more pressing Kemptown and we showed some deep cracks and disjointedness. It didn't take too long for B Town to start to see the ball though and thats what we like best. Tonks, having seen a fair bit going forward in the first half, was sitting deeper and linking up with Matty to find a way forward from the back, Ray played with his back to Goal and looked strong but it was the on form Matty who levelled things up with a well placed Free kick, low to the Keepers left and following one of B Town's best passing moves of the day.

Then Ian came out of Goal and... changed proceedings. A 'glitch error' of a decision not to clear, led to a comedy Goal for Kempton and our heads dropped, we let our lines drift open and really started to rush and force our passing. still we showed that flair in our game but a third goal from more slack defending, saw the game close out with feelings of frustration from most.

All in all, not our finest hour but with the season round the corner, plenty of positives in our pockets and more than the usual hangover, does it really matter that we were beaten by Kemptown, in Pink, on Pride ?
