Victoria Rec, Bison Beer, the Purple kit and a full squad. Everything in place for a return to form after the recent slump we've seen but no sooner had we kitted up and knocked a few balls around than we took our first blow of the day, Baker was leaving. Like giving up on us proverbial donuts, I guess he was tired of the hole thing! #BakerPunBants. A sad departure without doubt and it goes without saying that he'll be sorely missed but we won't be cancelling his contract so the door is always open. He hasn't left us empty handed however, we achieved some great football at times and I'm confident we can get back to that.

With Pal back in the heart of defence, alongside a Matty, Migs triangle, we knew they'd have trouble getting through. The game started with Bison Beer pressing us quickly and our passing tempo wasn't high enough to keep hold of the ball but a hell of an effort from Craig, Chuck and Callum to win the ball back and Tonk's coving well from the holding roll, helped us stay in the game. Pal won everything, land and air. Migs saved what he had to and Craig again, ran and stretched them, out on the left. Finally, we saw some good spells in their box and Bam! Harry was hacked down inside the area... No penalty!!! A quick, audacious overhead kick attempt from Craig, not a million miles from testing the keeper, at least and 0-0 at half time, with plenty to do before the game became truly even.

At the top of our to-do-list was, more physicallity, wider play across the pitch and quicker, tighter passing. Two early subs saw Squibbs and Ammar, replace the injured Tom and unusually, lethargic Harry. Bison Beer were using their wings well now and strething us but Ray, then Tonks, covered the runs well, down the left, Sqiobbs and Callum, linked up fairly well in spells and a return for the Big Bear, changed us to two up top with some more physical presence. Anticipation seemed greatly amiss on the day, BTown failing to get any joy with second balls or Matty's delivery from set pieces and with the Bison herd, fouled in the box from a push, only having it given then dispatching it, the gradient got steeper. A couple of chances came and went until Awesome Ammar pounced on a parried shot, 5 yards out. He missed. Unlucky for Ammar in all fairness but that was all she wrote.

We hobbled off, looking how Chuck felt, after a tough game. It's back to the drawing board in a sense but these last few games have definitely highlighted what we need to change but everyone, at some point, has shown the ability to pruduce what we're missing, we just need to get in synch. A good run of games are on the cards, in terms of opposition, ideal for giving us the chance to get back on track. Let's graft for each other and look forward to another BTown night out with Harry's. funny as fuck, charades.
