Away league match

Right then... A league clash vs top of the table (so far) AFC Romans, most of us have started to believe in a challenge for the title and certainly promotion, so it leaves you to wonder, what went wrong?
Well, we simply didn't take it seriously enough, didn't prepare ourselves mentally for getting stuck in, didn't fancy it particurarily. Which is a crying shame because as predicted, they really weren't all that good.
The debut of the 'crazy bright' new kit was blindingly on show on a cold but sunny, November morning. 2 minutes silence for Armistice Day was unbroken by the usual farting and giggling in respect to Baker and the commemeration of what it signified.
A side, largely unchanged from the week before started the game well-ish. only 10 or so minutes in, it felt as though this might be a tight one but there for the win, until we conceded a goal from nowhere really. long, direct passes would be the gameplan all day for Romans and it was there they found their first, around the 15 minute mark Only a few mintes later, McKenna latched onto a through ball and seemed destined to slot it home. Tonks even celebrated, loudly ! Sadly the ball was a bit of a stretch in the end and a sliding Callum, hooked it just wide. Craig wanted the ball non stop and ran ragged to find the spaces, Harry, Callum and Squibbs had some nice link up down the left but we just never quite created that clear opportunity. Romans scored two more, badly defended goals and we all knew that more aggression was needed and this was the theme at half time.
Baker, stuck between the sticks and unable to impact things had to just make subs and try to change the game early, in the second half and B Town looked a little better, seeing more play in the opposition half. Until hindsight told us that it was only the calm before the storm. Matty came on and put himself about well, making some attackg headway up the left and equally, Jack and Sam had chances to see the ball and make an impact but the long counter-attacks kept resulting in goals and despite a consolation from Jack, at 4-0, we largely folded. Chuck an Tom, unable to continue their sprints from 18 yard box to the halfway line and back, were eventually abandoned altogether by the team shape and left to take a pasting, did well to contain their inevitable frustration though.
6-1 and some drawing board basics to re-visit but I've seen too much from this group, to be anything but positive, about this football year.
