Away league match

Round 8 saw Axis of Evil take on UQFC away from home and low on numbers. A lean squad saw Player/Manager Adge make a short but entertaining cameo. With a bare 11 at kick off, Adge slotted himself into the left back position but his stint was short lived. A contested header saw him knocked off balance, causing him to land flat on his back and his head hitting the ground. after a short snooze he gathered himself and made his way to the sideline to make the only substitution of the game 3 minutes in.

With the short numbers and lack of goal keepers saw a lot of players in unusual positions. Bourke donned the gloves, Kyle filled a hole in the middle, Fehlhaber on the right once again and Toby up top.

UQ started with a lot of promise. Boasting youth, speed and a bench Evil seemed to be up against it on the night. But with age comes maturity and the knowledge that it doesn't matter how fast the opposition is if they don't have the ball.

The opener came mid way through the first half when the ball was played out from the back and Fehlhaber put Toby through with a pass within his own half. Toby still with a bit to do, disposed of the 2 defenders and lobed the ball over the keeper.

UQFC responded with some through balls which were time and time again mopped up by Bourke who had little else to do but was alert to the danger when they did get the delivery right and caused a diving save.

The second was a comical of errors. With a free kick on the centre circle, Fehlhaber noticed the keeper well of his line. He tried to lob the ball over but a defender through his leg out, causing the ball to run along the deck towards the keeper, who then misjudge his collection allowing the ball to run through his legs at the top of the box and roll into the empty net. Evil was 2 to the good at the half.

The second half started the way the first finished with Evil on top and pushing to put the game to bed. UQ's defence was called upon to shut down advancing runs from the middle and flanks getting a toe or head to the ball to deny a number of chances.

The third came from a break away down the right with Fehlhaber and Cayne linking well. Cayne delivered an early ball over the back line for Toby to get a toe to the ball to beat the advancing goal keeper.

Bourke was getting bored in goals and even decided to pass the ball to the opposition's striker just outside the box. All the striker had to do was control and place the ball but somehow put the ball well over after deciding to go for power.

Johnny who and Wal had a great game in central defence and Mikey started to find some good form controlling the middle. Everyone on the pitch gave their all and stood up for the team when ever they were called upon.

A solid win and a clean sheet to boot.
