Home league match

Round 16 saw AOE in their local derby with Tarragindi. Chasing redemption after a couple of average performances, and also from dropping points again the Tigers earlier in the season, Evil was out to prove they deserved to be on top of the table. With Mount Gravatt playing at the same time, nothing less than a convincing win would be enough.

The game started with Evil pressing high and trying to take control of the game. With the high tempo of the game there were a lot of wayward passes. Tigers also pressed hard so there was little to no time on the ball and a few players were caught out napping from both sides. Evil struck first when a corner was not cleared and Ryan, continuing his goal scoring form of late, was able to finish with his second bit of the cherry.

A few late challenges saw injuries to Lando and Juan midway through the first half. With plenty of power on the bench, Evil's high press and attack was not disadvantaged. They struck again just before the end of the half when a passing move through the middle of the pitch saw Toby release the ball onto the wing for Fehlhaber to put in a low cross for Bourke to finish at the back post. Half time with Evil 2 to the good.

Evil came out in the second half with similar intent and saw the Tiger's keeper make a solid save against Trace to see him denied for the second week running. Evil won a penalty for a bad tackle in the box. Dave hits the ball low but the keeper guesses the right way. Another passing passage saw Ryan pass the ball to Fehlhaber to be 1 on 1 with the keeper, he goes around the keeper and puts the ball into the net. 2 minutes later Evil has a free kick 22 yard to the right of goal which was put away emphatically by Fehlhaber who went across the keeper and hit the left upright on its way in. evil was well on top and the Tigers defences faltered again with Evil's high press. The keeper miskicks his clearance straight to Fehlhaber who calmly lobs the keeper from 20 yards out. Another sloppy challenge toward the end sees Ham go down with an injury.

A convincing win was topped off with Mount Gravatt losing sees Evil go 4 points clear with 2 games remaining. The casualty ward was kept busy but with a win the next week would see Evil claim the minor premiership and the ability to rest players for the upcoming final series. A hat trick and assist see Fehlhaber with man of the match honours.
