Evil Finish Season With GF Win. Invincibles Achieved!

Axis of Evil have capped of an incredible season with a convincing Grad Final win against Kangaroo Point Rovers. Taking the lessons learnt from the Semi Final, AOE constructed a game plan and executed it to great affect to eliminate KPR's attack and take a grip of the game.

Evil took first blood with a long throw in from Fehlhaber being cleared to Mike on the edge of the box who slalomed through oncoming defenders and square the ball to Tracey on the back post unmarked who touched the ball onto his left and finished well across the face of goal. Nic made a crucial save after a KPR corner was headed into the ground and was floating towards the top corner. In what seemed like slow motion Nic got a solid hand behind it it to tip over. The arm wrestle in the middle of the park didn't see much further goal mouth action in the half. HT 1-0 to Axis.

The second half saw Evil running with the wind and took almost 10 minutes to adjust to the extra ball travel which saw most balls going out for goal kicks. Evil's second goal came after 10 minutes of pressure which saw a free kick go just over the bar and a ball saved off the line. Fehlhaber put in a corner which found Tracey on the back post who saw his first effort saved and put back in his direction and his second effort went across the face of goal and Bourke toed it into the net. KPR pushed hard in the last 10 and were rewarded after an incorrect call saw them take a throw 25 yards from the byline, the ball was thrown long into the mixer and a solid clearance from Chuck into an attacker saw the ball travel back past them into the Evil net. The game came to a close and Evil were victorious on the day that mattered most. FT 2-1 Axis.

A great season capped off with the minor premiership and the GF winners trophies. Every player of the squad can hold their head up high as it took everyone's efforts to complete the unthinkable. From the first whistle of the season through to the last, Axis was the best team in the league and was able to prove it when it mattered most.
