Match Report - THORPE ACRE FC - 04 Sep 2021

Fantastic start to the season for the Spartans with a dominating 4-2 win over a good Thorpe Acre side.

We started strong and looked hungry for the 3 points today with some lovely football through the middle of midfield Jordan and debutant Jamie linking up lovely with Cramps had us looking dangerous early.

It was Hagi who broke the deadlock early on in the game with a rocket of a shot flying into the top right corner from about 25 yards.

Thorpe Acre responded instantly with a good through ball finished off by the home sides striker.

We kicked back off and took control again, the front 3 making runs and linking up nicely with joe, Iccy and Hagi causing all sorts of problems. The defence were as regimented as ever with Ow an Kam keeping things organised in the middle with Rob and Farky being a constant outlet all 4 were solid as a unit.

After a spell of Sparta dominance Jordan and Iccy both got there rewards with two beautifully taken goals. 3-1.

Just after half time we started to let our foot of a bit and Thorpe Acre scored an undeserved goal that cut the deficit to 3-2. A few of the subs were made Ben came on for Joe up tops, David on for Kam at centre half and Jamie who ran his socks off made way for Dan who came on at right back with Rob going into midfield.

We started to settle again and gain control and after a period of great football from Owen and Jordan aim the middle picking out the runs of Ben, Iccy, Hagi and Cramps we finally got the goal to round it off with Jordan finding Iccy on the left and the odds on favourite for top goal scorer this season buried a trademark finish. 4-2

The final change was made with Rob coming off again another player today that ran himself into the ground, making way for the younger of the Whitcroft brothers Bradders.
