Hard Loss For The Spartans 🔴⚪️

A tough loss to take today away to top of the league. After a poor performance and some diabolical refereeing decisions Sparta fell to a 4-1 defeat to league leaders CK Dons.

The first half started even with both teams having a couple of close attempts. Matty and Tom were working well together looking to break the opposition defence, with the midfield 3 of Kris, Jano and Iccy looking to provide and support them in the opening stages. The defence looked very well organised and proved solid to start with 2 changes at centre half from last week with Sorin and Dawid both making there first starts of the season playing in front of skipper Jan. Then no changes at wing backs with Rubis on the right and Leighton on the left.

The home side broke the deadlock with a bizarre goal which was quickly cancelled out by a wonderfully well worked solo goal from Iccy. Both teams gave a good half but it was the Dons that took the lead heading into the break. Making the most of the empty midfield the opposition found space to play a lovely bit of football leading to a goal. 2-1 HT.

At half time forward Matty had worked himself into the ground on his first start in a Sparta shirt, so he made way for Reeve who was back looking to add to his goals this season. After further pressure from CK Dons and the lack of creativity going forward, the formation was changed and a sub was made. Rubis came off and we went 4 at the back with Matej coming on and partnering Iccy and Tom to complete a front 3. As the game went on the we conceded another well worked goal by the opposition. Dawid who had played a great game so far had to make way for Jacek after he picked up a knock towards the end of the game.

The opposition made the most of the cold legs at left back and grabbed there final goal of the game.

Poor performance today but we go again next week ????
