After an impressive start in the league opener last week the starting 11 was unchanged for todays match.
The game started even with both teams coming close, strikers Reeve an Iccy had a few close efforts but unfortunately couldn’t break the deadlock. The centre half’s Jan, Gregson and Hudak, along with keeper Jordan were showing the same form as last week keeping the chances at a minimal.
As the half went on it was evident the opposition were trying to play there football through the middle. We suffered an injury to central midfielder Chara and he had to make way for Aiden. After the change we went through a spell of losing the shape through the middle and the opposition punished us finally getting through our back 3 an beating the keeper.
Further injuries followed through the half with Striker Iccy pulling up which seen striker Tom come on and make a positive impact in our front line, and then wing back Farky has to make way for defender Baker who after making his way back from injury impressed today showing the form he hit last year.
We seen the half out but we made hard work of it, not being aggressive enough in the press from defence right through to the forwards, we continued to struggle to find our shape in the middle of midfield and this caused us to call upon our back 3 and Jordan further.
At half time wing back Rubis limped off madness was replaced by Matej, we started the half calm and looked a lot more in control on the ball. Strikers Reeve an Tom worked well together getting on the end of some through balls from keeper Jordan but unfortunately couldn’t pull level.
CK Dons still came at us with a spell of pressure which was held off superbly again by our centre half’s an keeper, eventually we conceded a penalty, but just like pre season up stepped keeper Jordan kerr to get down low an make a brilliant save. Striker Reeve made way for Brad to give us some fresh legs up tops.
We started to build momentum again towards the final 15 minutes with persistent pressure from striker Tom, constant support from Hudak and Matej at wing backs and some lovely footwork from Brad but again Sparta couldn’t find the net.
