Match Report - SOUTHWATER ROYALS FIRST - 09 Mar 2019

Ambassadors exited the cup at the quarter final stage in a game they could have won on another day against a decent Southwater Royals side.

The First half was one to forget as Ambassadors struggled to get into the game and got outplayed at times as they couldn't retain possession and conceded 2 goals after 20 and 40 minutes.

Second half was much better as they knuckled down to the task ahead. Putting Southwater on the back foot from the start with the fast passing game causing Southwater all kinds of problems. They got reward for the pressure, when they won a penalty after 60 minutes, but unfortunately the ever reliable Noller stepped up and keeper saved his effort down the centre. 5 minutes later he had chance to redeem himself as Ambassadors won another Penalty, and although the initial effort was saved Noller scrambled home the rebound. From this point it was all ambassadors and they went for broke by replacing Defender with Attacker as Matthews came on for Turner. 10 minutes later they were all square as Magill's header from a corner hit the top of the bar and Burrell was on hand to scramble home. Game on and at this point Ambassadors looked favourites for a win. Entering the last 10 minutes both teams went for broke and Southwater struck with 5 to go after a free kick was only half cleared and their Midfielder buried the ball in the back of the net from the edge of the box. Burrell was sent up top as Ambassadors chased an equaliser but they left themselves short at the back and Southwater got a fourth with seconds to go to seal the game.
