Match Report - BARNHAM TROJANS FIRST - 01 Sep 2018

New season started with a disappointing start for the Ambassadors with a narrow defeat at Home to Barnham Trojans. Ambassadors started the stronger with a couple of decent openings in the early stages and then got reward they deserved as Oppe smashed home after some neat interplay behind him. This appeared to be the wake up call that Barnham needed and they came back into the game strongly and within 10 minutes were level after a cross from the right was headed home past Treagus. As the Barnham midfield started to dominate and find a bit more space they got a slightly fortunate second when Treagus got a hand on a cross but palmed it straight onto the head of onrushing striker who couldn't believe his luck as it bounced into the net. Ambassadors tightened up for the rest of the half as Grey came in centre midfield but as half time was looming Barnham got a scrappy third to go in 3-1 up. Second half was much better from Ambassadors but ultimately they had too much to do after 60 minutes when Barnham extended their lead with another header this time from a corner. Ambassadors then chased the game to try and get a result and a quicker passing game resulted in a neat move and a tidy finish from Ben Chivers-Gibbs on 75 minutes to bring the score back to 4-2. Then on 85 mins it was game on as Alex Chivers-Gibbs robbed the Barnham defense and shot and although the keeper got a touch the ball ended up looping into the net. Burrell was sent forward as Ambassadors chased the equaliser and they thought they had the opportunity when Grey was hacked down in the area , but to the amazement of everyone watching the Referee said he didn't see a foul and waved play on. Shortly after the full time whistle went and Ambassadors left the pitch with a 4-3 defeat.
