Match Report - ANGMERING SENIORS RESERVES - 13 Oct 2018

Ambassadors entered this game 3 games undefeated and looking to put a disappointing draw behind them last time out.

A slow start isn’t what they needed with Angmering controlling the midfield and winning the majority of aerial challenges. After soaking up constant pressure for the first 15 minutes it was inevitable that something was going to crack. Sharp taking his opponent down in the box resulted in a penalty that was put down the middle as Treagus made a valiant attempt to save.

Minutes later Treagus was off injured, after a nasty challenge by their forward meant a head injury and was unable to continue. Jones came in as GK whilst Mayne came in at LB.

Ambassadors feeling aggravated by losing their keeper spured on and were level minutes later. A GK flicked on by BCG into the channel for Theobald to run onto. Ignoring calls from the middle he blasted it at goal from the acute angle and rifled it into the top of the net leaving the GK (and to be fair the whole pitch) stunned.

This lifted Ambassadors and they quickly had a chance from Oppe who curled inches wide from the edge of the box after some neat play by Grey and ACG. ACG had the next chance when Oppe got clear in the channel and tackled heavily, but stayed on his feet to drive into the box finding BCG who pulled it square for ACG who shot first time with his left but the keeper was equal to it resulting in the game tightly poised at 1-1 at half time.

The second half started well, Ambassadors having majority of chances down the channel, Oppe found Grey on the edge of the box and his shot was blocked. Angmering grew into the game and attacked down the left, some neat midfield play got behind the defence and a crossed ball was finished at Jones back post putting them 2-1 up.

Ambassador’s had the next chance, Blazey found Oppe in the channel who pulled it back for Theobald who hit it low in to the corner, only to be cleared off the line by ACG. The game got more and more physical as time pressed on with Ambassadors seeking an equaliser. Toculet and Mason came on for Theobald and Grey. This gave the energy the team needed and were soon level after some great midfield play BCG smashed the ball in the top corner from outside the box.

Angmering pressed on searching for a winner but couldn’t breakdown the resilient Ambassadors defence Blazey, Burrel, Sharp & Mayne all making good blocks and with some goal line scrambles and great saves from Jones the game ended 2-2.
