Al-Muslim Masters started Season 3 off with a bang, brushing aside the opposition in dominant fashion. As news swept through Villa Academy in the late hours of last night, that the Muslim Masters would be in town, facing them once again, the number of players volunteering to play dropped like flys, reducing the opposition to only having three eligable players. This led to the Masters very generously giving in Zakat, as they donated players to the opposition, in order to even out the game. However, the match was already won for the Masters before it had even started started, and despite many notable abseentes; Zuhair, Hamzah, Adam, AB, Aatif, Umer and Ahmed, the Masters were still able to comfortably dispatch of Villa Academy. Goals came from debut boy Murtaza Nomani; a box-box defensive midfielder by trait playing as an inverted forward today, grabbing himself to 4 goals, as many assists, and claiming his new nickname as 'the tap-in merchant'. Murtaza managed a hattrick within 9 minutes of open play - smashing the previous record held by Robert Lewandowski. Definitely a day to remember for him. There were also goals from Mo, who chipped in with a brace, with one goal from his own goalline!!!, and also from usual suspect Youauf Hashmi, who has now scored 12 goals in 12 appearances and also has scored in 5 consecutive matches, only 6 shy of the great Jamie Vardy. Goals also came from Junaid Syed, who was the latest player to reach the milestone of a decadence - 10 caps. Goals from Junaid a rarity, since his last was 15 months ago over 3000 miles away, making today his first goals on English soil. 5 was the number struck by Junaid, who also managed 4 assists, displaying great vision. Junaid has now equalled the record held by Hamzah Haq for the most goals scored in one game - 5. This fantastic individual performance was appreciated by peers who voted him the MOTM, for the second game in a row, ensuring back to back MOTM's.
All in all a great game, a great day, and a great way to kick start the season, hopefully more thumpings to follow.
*All Ratings were done anonymously by the players, playing in the match, either on our team or the opposition.
