After a 3 week Christmas break we returned to action in the county cup quarter finals, Sandiacre town were the hosts on a perfect day to play football.
We started well & looked well up for it with some great passing moves, unfortunately though we went behind to a 6th minute close range header. It didn't deter us and it wasn't long before we were level, another header, this time from Brandon.
The game then settled and we looked the better team, for some reason though we let them lead at half time 3-1 conceding 2 sloppy goals again from close range!!
Heads didn't drop though as we knew we were the better side, we came out fighting in the second half but as we were pushing forward looking for a way back into the game we got caught on the counter attack and we were 4-1 down with 35 minutes to go.
To the lads credit they kept going and with half an hour to go Blake gave us a life-line with a neatly taken goal from just inside the box(4-2)
A formation change & a couple of subs due to injuries later and the game was really on, a Penalty from Brandon made it 4-3 with 15 minutes to go and we could smell extra time??
We then decided to press the self destruct button, firstly Tom dropped a cross and from the resulting goalmouth scramble they made it 5-3 then with 4 minutes to go Doddsy's clumsy tackle in our box resulted in a penalty which they despatched and finished the game winning 6-3!
Missing key players and the 3 week break didn't' help matters I think, but we must work hard now and hopefully start another unbeaten run??
