vs Halifax Friendly FC

Neutral friendly match

AFC Halifax Veterans played their first friendly match against another new local team.

With an unknown opposition AFC we’re focusing on their own game and looking to build on prior performances.

Coming into the squad were new recruits Adam Robinson, Neil Cummins, Warren Pickard and Lee Casalino, also making his first appearance was soon to be Vet John Luders.

The game, to be played in 3 thirds of thirty, started slowly with AFC having slightly the better of the ball. Dawson and Barny forming starting as a front two put pressure on the Friendly defence, and Dawson’s pace causing issues at every opportunity.

As the game went on AFC gained more composure and confidence - especially as the goals started coming.

AFC having the luxury of an 18man squad available were able to make changes frequently ensuring that there was no tired legs on pitch.

At 4-0 up AFC could have been blamed for a lack of concentration, or over confidence, as Friendly got two quick goals back before the end of the second third.

However by the final third AFC showed the had superior fitness and it showed as another 3 goals went in.

Final score on the night was 7-2.

With goals coming from J. Luders x2, C Dawson x2, M Fusco x2 and M Lumb (scoring his first ever goal including training)

It was a good run out for the lads and a confidence builder - although league opposition will prove a lot tougher.
